try Blue stallion for your bourbon break
Each week we feature a local Lexington hangout to help you lex like a local on your next visit!
We know you're in Kentucky for bourbon. After all, isn't that why we're all here? But after a long, tedious day of sipping bourbon samples and cocktails, sometimes you just need a beer to relax with.
Enter Blue Stallion Brewing Co.
Blue Stallion, located in a historic area of downtown Lexington, is a great hangout for locals and tourists a like. The inviting, warm atmosphere (literally warm, as they open their doors and garage in the summer time) is relaxing, complete with a pool table, tv's, outdoor patio area, and leather couches. Blue Stallion is perfect after a long day of exploring Lexington. In addition to their bar area, you can see their entire brewing area, and their knowledgeable loves to talk beer while you're sipping on a pint.
While there, we sipped on a few different beers. Their menu reads as an educational piece in itself, ranking their beers from least to most hoppy, making it easy to determine what you want. Personally, the Kama Sumatra was a favorite, which was a dark and delicious coffee porter. And when you get hungry after a couple beers, Blue Stallion features food from another Lexington favorite, Dad's Favorites to be exact, a local, legendary sandwich establishment that typically garners lines around the building at their original location.
Oh yea, and one more thing: as if this place wasn't friendly enough, customers are also welcome to bring their dog. What's better than dinner and beer with mans best friend?
